The wide range of lessons and activities included provides the ideal way to introduce Shakespeare to younger students or to support GCSE coursework.

Kar2ouche Ancient Greeks enables teachers and students to engage with this period of ancient history, by providing a wide range of characters, backgrounds, props and soundfiles to use in role-play.

Characters include Greek warriors, gods and goddesses, and children and adults from all levels of ancient Greek life. Backgrounds include Greek landscapes, houses, schools, the Acropolis and a recreated Parthenon. Students can also scan their own drawings or holiday photographs from Greece and use them as backgrounds.

Ten activities provide suggestions for how the software can be used to develop specific history skills, such as understanding chronology, interpreting evidence and synthesising information from a variety of sources. And Kar2ouche provides the tools for you to devise your own lessons to supplement or replace those provided.

The first eight suggested activities have History as the main focus, while Activities 9 and 10 are oriented more towards developing literacy skills. Kar2ouche Bullying presents a range of issues relating to bullying through virtual role-play, and encourages students to define bullying, discuss why it occurs, identify signs of bullying and consider possible responses.

Many of the issues that are discussed are sensitive and potentially uncomfortable, especially if they are to be performed in front of peers. By using the computer and virtual role-play, students can deal with situations, ask questions and challenge assumptions in a less personally threatening or embarrassing way.

Using the hard copy worksheets and pre-prepared storyboards and activities provided in Kar2ouche, students can listen to and discuss the issues raised. Kar2ouche Criminal Law integrates class, group and pair discussions with a range of computer activities to help students to understand more about the nature of crime, and the way in which the criminal justice system operates in England and Wales.

Discussion is essential, and role-play allows students to rehearse situations, empathise with others and investigate issues in more depth. Many of the themes may be sensitive and potentially uncomfortable, especially if they are to be performed in front of peers. Kar2ouche Earth and the Environment covers two areas of scientific theory that have recently undergone rapid changes: our understanding of the Earth itself, and the most important environmental problems facing the world today.
The first set of activities looks at the development of geology as a science, in particular the work of Alfred Wegener and how his ideas were initially rejected. Leading scientists from the last 200 years are presented as 3D characters that present their theories. Modern characters then discuss the problem of predicting changes in the Earth's crust, such as earthquakes and volcanoes.

The second set of activities looks at the many environmental issues that confront us: in particular, global warming and the depletion of the ozone layer. Each problem is considered from a historical point of view, and students are asked to suggest possible solutions.

Kar2ouche Relationships: School & the Wider World is centred on four units of work mapped to the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum for PSHE and Citizenship.

Using the worksheets, storyboards and activities provided, students can initially listen to and discuss the issues raised. Then, using the wide range of appropriate characters, backgrounds, props, text and audio files, they can add to the storyboards provided or produce their own virtual role-plays.

The units focus on:

Resolving Conflict - since students often find it difficult to understand the difference between bullying, teasing and just 'having fun', this unit provides them with the opportunity to explore the difference between these behaviours, as well as think of some ways to deal with them
Peer Group Pressure - in this activity students learn about peer group pressure, who influences them in society, and develop some methods for resisting pressure from others
Keeping Safe - students consider potential dangers posed by modern day society and what they can do to improve their personal safety
Responsibility - by watching and completing storyboards and sheets, students will understand the importance of rules in society and the relationship between rights and responsibilities.

Kar2ouche Respecting Diversity encourages students to investigate and role-play issues such as immigration, discrimination and what makes people individuals.

The five suggested units will help students to work through the issue of Respecting Diversity so they understand what it means and are given the opportunity to consider themselves as citizens. They will also consider equality, the similarities and differences between people, and their own responsibilities as global citizens.

Three suggested activities are included:

Religions and Beliefs - students carry out research on the different religions practised in this country, and share their knowledge with the rest of the group by completing a storyboard in the style of a TV interview
Soap Opera - students are encouraged to consider the abuse or harassment that some people might suffer because they are 'different'. To gain understanding of this issue, students will write a script for and perform a soap opera, describing an event, situation or incident as an example of this type of discrimination
Human Rights - students look at the issue of 'human rights' by considering their school rights and producing a storyboard based on one of the 'Articles' in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948

Kar2ouche Sex & Relationships will help students to become more aware of the nature of different relationships and give them the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of sexual issues, including puberty, reproduction, contraception, STIs and safe sex.

Using pre-made storyboards, worksheets and activities, students can listen to and seriously discuss the issues raised. They can then add to these storyboards or create their own, using the wide range of characters, backgrounds and props included in the software. This enables students to show their understanding of the issues raised and role-play issues that might otherwise be difficult or embarrassing to discuss.

Kar2ouche Social Communication was created as a result of collaboration between Kent Education Authority and Immersive Education to help support staff who need to include children with social communication difficulties in mainstream classrooms.

Many ASD students have found it difficult to relate to the specific, realistic characters provided in other Kar2ouche titles, so generic 3D wooden stick figures in various colours are used in this title. They can be posed, rotated and re-sized - just like the realistic characters that feature in other Kar2ouche titles - and students can add facial expressions to them if they wish.

The ten activities provided have been designed to help staff to address areas of difficulty, such as social communication, social interaction and empathy, and are based directly on issues raised by staff working with students with social communication difficulties in mainstream classes.

They allow students to rehearse situations, anticipate events and think about other people's perspectives. By using the computer and virtual role-play, students can deal with situations, ask questions and challenge assumptions safely and in a way that minimises frustration and anxiety.

A complementary home version provides activities that can help support parents with home-based issues and areas of difficulty.

In Kar2ouche Starting French 1, students will meet an alien family visiting Earth to learn about different cultures and languages. Their first stop is France.

Students will engage with Gilbert, his friends and family. They will have fun learning to meet and greet others, count to 60, do simple maths in French, refer to times of the day, week and year, and talk about school, where they live, and what they do.

Each of the three units includes a Word bank with new vocabulary with English translations, and tasks - each divided into two suggested activities - allow students to reinforce their learning through the creation of storyboards, animations and publications.

With Kar2ouche Tudors, students can learn about the life of Henry VIII and his six wives, fill in a dating agency report and write a newspaper article on the breakdown of his marriages. Other activities help students to gain an insight into the differences between the lives of rich and poor children and to learn about clothing and housing in Tudor times.

Kar2ouche Victorians provides a wide range of backgrounds, characters, props and sound files that will enable students to engage with this fascinating period of history.
