Key Stage: KS2 Formats Available:   | In Début: French, students join a family of aliens as they set out to discover the country, people, culture and language of France.
A series of structured, interactive activities are used to develop students' knowledge and understanding of the language, their language-learning skills and cultural awareness. They allow students to hear native French speakers, take part in dialogues and create virtual role plays.
The software consists of eight units, each made up of three activities, covering the following themes:
The aliens arrive in France - an introduction to the country, and greetings
Numbers and dates - days of the week, months of the year, and birthdays
In the classroom - the most common actions and objects
Do you like that? - learning to express opinions
In fashion - colours and clothing
My family - family members, pets and friends
At home - describing a house, and meals
How are you feeling? - parts of the body, feeling unwell, and healthy living.
Each focuses on oracy, literacy, knowledge about language, intercultural understanding and language learning strategies.
Developed in collaboration with Warwickshire LEA for the Key Stage 2 Languages Framework.
Each Kar2ouche title comes with a comprehensive Teacher Support Pack. This is supplied on CD and, for network site licence editions, in hard-copy format. Additional hard-copies can be purchased separately.

Key Stage: KS1 & 2 Formats Available: | In Kar2ouche Starting French 1, students will meet an alien family visiting Earth to learn about different cultures and languages. Their first stop is France.
Students will engage with Gilbert, his friends and family. They will have fun learning to meet and greet others, count to 60, do simple maths in French, refer to times of the day, week and year, and talk about school, where they live, and what they do.
Each of the three units includes a Word bank with new vocabulary with English translations, and tasks - each divided into two suggested activities - allow students to reinforce their learning through the creation of storyboards, animations and publications.
The three units included in the software are:
Bonjour! - introducing the vocabulary for meeting and greeting, and finding out people's names
Des Objets - introducing the vocabulary for colours, animals and classroom objects
Movie Time - revising the vocabulary for meeting and greeting, dates, the weather, the names of countries and towns, and asking and saying where someone is going.
Kar2ouche Starting French 1 is ideal preparation at Key Stage 1 and the start of Key Stage 2.

Key Stage: KS1 & 2 Formats Available: | Kar2ouche Starting French 2 continues the story of a family of aliens who have landed in France and are learning to speak French.
Students can re-acquaint themselves with Gilbert, his friends and family. They will learn to ask for food and drink, refer to parts of the body, identify different sports, create a fashion show and go on holiday to a French-speaking country, while building on the vocabulary they learnt before.
Three suggested activities are provided:
My Day - introducing the vocabulary for telling the time and school subjects, completing the School Quiz, and creating a diary storyboard of activities from a typical day
Food! - introducing the vocabulary for food and drink, researching the French names for items of food and drink from different countries around the world, and describing a meal for a special occasion
Information - revising the vocabulary for giving directions and the names of buildings, planning tourist information for visitors, including directions, and creating an animation that could be used by a hotel on its information channel.
