Key Stage: KS3 & 4 Formats Available:   | Kar2ouche Learning from Religion gives students the opportunity to learn from religion by investigating the diversity of different faiths and considering their own beliefs and values. As they develop their understanding of unfamiliar religions, they will discover a number of shared beliefs, values and practices.
Many of the themes for discussion are sensitive and potentially uncomfortable, especially if they are to be performed in front of peers. However, by using the computer and virtual role-play, students can deal with situations, ask questions and challenge assumptions in a less personally threatening or embarrassing way.
Suggested activities offer examples of just some of the ways in which Kar2ouche Learning From Religion can be used in the classroom to encourage students to analyse, interpret, consider and evaluate religious issues, and to develop their own sense of identity and belonging as citizens.
There are three units that provide a range of suggestions for using the software to address the following issues:
Religion in the Media - considering the potential impact of the media on religion
Religion and the Environment - exploring responsibility, stewardship and religious attitudes to conservation
Religion and Forgiveness - looking at religious attitudes to forgiveness and the effects of this concept
Each Kar2ouche title comes with a comprehensive Teacher Support Pack. This is supplied on CD and, for network site licence editions, in hard-copy format. Additional hard-copies can be purchased separately.
